About Us

First off, we'd like to tell you a little about who we are and why we have chosen to "Camp as a Lifestyle", and why we have chosen to blog our adventures.

We are Vallori and Kevin, two out of work "computer geeks" (geeks by choice, techs by trade). He is a Linux guru (and currently a student), and I specialize in Windows support.  (If you know of any job openings, please let us know!) We have been looking for work for many months now, but so far, have not found anything.

Our family is the main focus of our lives, we have 4 kids, a 6 month old, a 4 year old, a 9 year old, and a 10 year old (due to the terms of my divorce from their father, names and pictures of the older children will not be in this blog). The 6 month old and the 4 year old lives with us full time, and the 4year old, 9 year old and the 10 year old are with us on school breaks. We also have 3 2 dogs, Zero Cool (mutt), Linus (Corgi-Bull Terrier), and Lord Nikon (APBT).

After the loss of our jobs, and several months of looking for new full-time jobs that would pay our bills (and not finding anything), we realized that we needed to get a bit creative and figure out a new way to live that we could actually afford. Being that we like to camp anyway, we already had some camping gear, and we knew that it could be  done for free, and that could be done fairly near metro areas, so we could still easily look for jobs, go to school, and go to interviews, if we were called for any.

The reason we have created this blog is to help other campers by letting you all know the lessons we have learned, and letting you know about the campsites we go to, and also to help other people in difficult financial situations by sharing some of our ideas and experiences that might help, and finally, just to chronicle our "adventures" for ourselves.

Hopefully you will enjoy following along with our adventures, and perhaps something we experience will help you in your lives in some way.

20101015: Update: Sorry we haven't been maintaining the blog. Dealing with all of the insanity this summer left little time for blogging, and we were rarely with an internet connection.
Kevin has found a job, and we are currently getting settled back into "normal" life. :)
We will still post some more of the summer camping asap, and we'll still post when we do weekend camping trips, as well.

Feel free to contact us with any questions we might be able to help with about camping, or just about anything else. Thanks!
